|
Marion County Court is one of the oldest courts which were built many years ago. It was build under the right of Constitution of Indiana. It was established under the right of Indiana code having a Title of 33. There are many courts as circuit court, superior court, small claim courts. The Marion Circuit court was built in 1816. This court does the job very efficiently. The first person who was elected as the clerk of this court was Ellspermann. The job of a clerk was also of full responsibility. He maintained all the records of the court with great care. Previously this court heard cases related to criminal, civil and small claims. But now it hears cases related to only civil affairs. The staff of the court is mainly a judge, two reporters of the court, a commissioner, and two bailiffs. The circuit court did not deal with criminal cases so this job was performed by the superior court. It deals with all types of criminal cases. The staff of this court is thirty six judges, twenty nine magistrates and commissioners. There are many small claim courts which are found in almost every town of Indiana. These are very effective in carrying out its job efficiently. Almost every type of small cases that are related to claims is filed in this court except between the cases between the tenant and the landlord. But the cases that are related to damages should not at all exceed than six thousand dollars. It is a separate entity and is neither a part of the circuit court nor the superior court. In the claim courts judges are elected just for a period of four years and so again after four years the judge is re-elected. In Indiana there are small claim courts in the area of Washington Street, South Foltz Street, McCoy Street, North Post Road and in many more areas. Every court has its own rules and regulations that must be followed. For example in the superior court there are also several rules. Some rules are related to bail, some are related to case consolidation, some are related to trial rules and as such many rules are there that are strictly followed in the court of law. Similarly other courts also have some rules and regulations. The courts are marked with C01 for circuit court, D01 to D14 for civil division, and G01 to G06 for criminal division. Thus these courts are very efficient in carrying out the job. |
